Chorus

Song blueprint - Songwriting exercise

It's really common to get to verse two and realise you've basically said the same thing as verse one.

Outlining first gives each section a job, so the song actually takes the listener somewhere.

Example

Theme: "Outgrowing a friendship neither of you will end" Verse 1: small, specific evidence the connection's thinning — not replying to texts. Verse 2: the moment it stops being deniable.

Try it yourself

Remember, there aren't really any wrong answers — the point is to get practice with the technique.
